Credit card application, a world to learn about

You've just gotten your brand new student credit card in the mail, and it's all yours! It gives you all kinds of reasons to take it right out to the stores and start spending: gas rebates, a points system that gives you free checks in the mail, even cask back when you use the card at the right stores. What's not to love? Why not take your student credit cards on a spending spree right away? Before you start taking advantage of all your card's great new features, stop and think. According to a federal report, the average student in New York state has four credit cards and has $3,173 in credit card debt. That's in addition to their tuition debt, and it usually carries an even higher interest rate than the national average. It's a heavy burden to bear when you're fresh out of college and still looking for a good job.
